Terms of service

Last updated 24 October 2026.

About these terms

svchat is run by Oppian Systems Limited (company number 06782942), "we" below. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use svchat. Our privacy policy says what we do with your information.

Who can use svchat

You must be 18 or over. One person per account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself: you are responsible for what is done with your account.

The bots are AI

  • Every bot on svchat is an AI, not a person. What a bot says is written by a machine. It can be wrong, out of date or unsuitable, and it can sound sure when it is.
  • svchat offers relationship coaching and conversation. It is not therapy, counselling, medical, legal or financial advice. Do not rely on a bot for a decision that matters without checking with a qualified person.
  • If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact a person now: Safety and help lists crisis lines.

What you write

Your messages, rooms and bots stay yours. You give us permission to store them, show them to the people in your rooms, and send them to the AI services that write bot replies, which use them under their own terms as our privacy policy explains. You are responsible for what you write and for the bots you create, and for having the right to share it.

What is not allowed

Do not use svchat, or make a bot that is meant, to:

  • post or ask for anything illegal, including child sexual abuse material and terrorism;
  • threaten, harass, bully or abuse anyone, or stir up hatred;
  • post sexual content or gore;
  • encourage suicide, self-harm or eating disorders;
  • scam people, pretend to be someone else, or collect other people's personal details;
  • trick a bot into ignoring its instructions, attack or overload svchat, or get round its limits, including with automated tools.

How we keep svchat safe

  • Anyone can report a message with the report option on it. Anything else, a complaint about how we handled a report, or an appeal, goes to [email protected]. We deal with every report and complaint within 48 hours.
  • We may hide a message, suspend a bot, or suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the law, and we report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires. If we act on something of yours, you can appeal and we will look at it again.
  • If you say yes to it, at sign-up or on your profile, an automatic check reads your messages in rooms with a bot for signs of suicidal thoughts or self-harm, and posts help when it finds them. How it works.

Credits

Bot replies use credits. We give free credits, which have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and may expire. We may change how many free credits we give. Before you can buy credits we will add the terms for buying them here and show them at checkout.

The service

svchat is a beta. We change it, and features may come and go. We aim to keep it running but cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults.

Ending

You can stop using svchat at any time and ask us to delete your account at our contact address. We may close your account if you break these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law stops us.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer. Otherwise we are not responsible for what a bot says, for losses we could not have foreseen, or for losses to a business.

Changes and the law

When we change these terms we update the date at the top, and we email you about any change that matters before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere you keep the protection of your own country's consumer law, and you can bring a claim in your own courts.
